FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions — Next Gen Cap (New Zealand)

We are based in Auckland, New Zealand.

1) What makes Next Gen Cap different from other ute canopy brands in New Zealand?

We specialise in model-specific aluminium ute canopies and aluminium ute hard lids built for NZ conditions—lightweight, corrosion‑resistant, and rugged. Our designs fit popular models like the Next‑Gen Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux, Mazda BT‑50, Nissan Navara, Isuzu D‑MAX, VW Amarok, Dodge RAM, Chev Silverado, Mitsubishi Triton, Kia Tasman and BYD Shark 6, with options for work, tourism, and off‑road use.

2) Do you only make canopies for the Next‑Gen Ranger?

No. While we’re known for Next‑Gen Ranger setups, we also supply and fit canopies for Hilux, BT‑50, Navara, D‑MAX and more. Ask us if your model isn’t listed—chances are we can help.

3) Are your canopies made in New Zealand?

No. Our canopies are NZ‑designed and assembled to handle local weather—from coastal salt air to alpine cold—offering superior weatherproofing and strength compared with many other imports.

4) Can I customise my canopy?

Absolutely. Choose black or white powder‑coat colours, internal shelving and drawers, sliding or lift‑up windows, central locking, roof racks, load rails, lighting, and more. We can also discuss one‑off builds for trade or overlanding.

5) How much weight can the roof carry?

Our aluminium canopies are engineered for up to ~200 kg dynamic (on‑road/off‑road, when driving) and ~300 kg static (parked). Always check your vehicle manufacturer’s roof limits and your specific build sheet.

6) How long does installation take?

In‑stock canopies can usually be installed within 2-3 hours. Custom builds are typically 4–6 weeks waiting time, depending on configuration and current demand. We’ll confirm timelines in your quote.

7) Do you offer nationwide delivery within New Zealand?

Yes, we ship NZ‑wide at your cost and offer professional fitting at our workshop or via authorised partners in major centres. Rural delivery can be arranged—just let us know your postcode.

8) What warranty is included?

Every canopy includes a 2‑year structural warranty and 12‑month hardware & accessories warranty. Normal wear‑and‑tear and improper use are excluded—full terms provided with your order.

9) Are your canopies compatible with roof‑top tents or heavy‑duty racks?

Yes. Our reinforced roofs and mounting points support roof‑top tents, ladders, solar, and trade gear. Tell us your intended load so we can recommend the best rack and fit‑kit.

10) How do I get a quote?

Request a free quote via our Contact page or call us. Include your vehicle make, model, year, and preferred canopy style. We usually reply within 1–2 business days.

11) Do you ship to Australia?

NZ is our home market, but we can arrange trans‑Tasman shipping and recommend fitters in select AU cities. Contact us for current rates and lead times.

12) Why choose aluminium over fibreglass?

Aluminium is typically lighter, stronger, and more corrosion‑resistant, making it ideal for heavy loads, coastal environments, and off‑road use. It’s also easier to repair and customise.

13) Can you integrate electrical accessories?

Yes—work lights, interior lighting, USB/12V sockets, DC‑DC chargers, and dual‑battery systems can be integrated. We can pre‑wire for fridges, compressors, or solar as needed.

14) Do you offer fleet or trade pricing?

We support fleets and trades with tailored builds and volume pricing. Share your fleet size, models, and required fit‑outs for a customised proposal.

15) How do I maintain my canopy?

Rinse after beach use, wash with pure water only. Re‑grease locks and check fasteners after off‑road trips. Contact us if you notice leaks or unusual wear.
